Popcorn Cloud – 12m x 6m with a drop of 5m of 1000’s of individually cut white plastic lengths. 800 bags of popcorn hung from electric string and meat hooks.

Eat Out Awards are South Africa’s Michelin Awards. It is here that the top restaurants and chefs are awarded their highest accolades.

I designed and made the ‘Truffle Popcorn Cloud’ and the canapés installations to integrate into their theme of Industrial Electric.
I designed and made the ‘Electric Gates’ where I wove electric coloured recycled yarn into the gates in various designs. The canapés hung off the gates at the entrance to the hangar.

I also judged the ‘Best Of’ categories for the awards that year.

At the beginning of the evening, guests had to reach up to get their popcorn, they had to look into the cloud which moved gently with the engagement of the guests.

Later in the evening… its almost gone, but the cloud remains, moving in the ‘breeze’ of people walking beneath it.
